Ongoing
costs include:
Yearly renewals of your domain name registration (just $35 a year)
Monthly hosting fees (to keep your site up and online unless
you plan on serving your site from your location).
Updates and additions. Virtual Internet Services will continue
to make any changes or additions wanted on the site, and do so at
our standard hourly rate of $50 per hour for the actual time spent.
Posting a simple newsletter on an ongoing basis may cost anywhere
from $50-$400. When changes involve graphics and multiple pages,
costs increase. Simple text changes may be accomplished for less
than $50, depending on the quantity. Complex additions or changes
will be quoted.
A suggestion is to set aside a budget for regular updates
that is between 10 and 15% [same comments as above] of your initial
development costs per month to be set aside for site improvements.
Doing so will generally delay your needing to go into a total redesign
mode of what you have. This type of budget should allow us to keep
adding to the site and keeping it active.
Not a part of keeping the site up and running, but an ongoing
cost to be considered is continued marketing of the site itself.
Whether that's Internet advertising dollars spent or postcard direct
mail campaigns, there needs to be a continuous awareness push to
keep your Web site on the minds of your market.
