For
smaller sites it can take as little as 3-4 days and for larger sites
with more sophisticated functionalities, it can take six weeks or
more. Included with that time frame are: initial meetings and consultation;
revisions and acceptance; site kick-off with content gathering;
domain name registration and host set-up; design development and
approvals; ongoing design, and graphics development; programming
and testing; and final uploading of the initial site.
The
length of this process depends on a number of factors, such as how
much existing content is already available in electronic format
for inclusion into the site, how many pages the site contains, and
how in-depth the programming must be for the site. Generally, once
content is developed for a primarily informational or marketing
site, with a site up to about 10 pages, development time will be
approximately four to six weeks. For larger sites, we will double
up staff (or more) in the areas of graphic development and programming,
with a turnaround time of six weeks or more. There certainly are
sites that require constant ongoing attention. These are generally
e-commerce or major database-driven sites. Sites may also be launched
in stages, so that the site goes live with some core content and
is added to over time. Due to the nature of the medium, the site
is never really "done" as there are always changes that
should be made to reflect changes within our client's organizations
and offerings.
